BGA is a family business from Gävle that sells frames, albums, and other related accessories. The last few years have seen a quick expansion, breaking into several new markets. In order to succeed in these markets, BGA has seen the importance of high-quality local content – something that Contentor has helped provide.
About the company
BGA was founded in 1993 in Gävle, with the focus being on the production of informative films and the transfer of cine film to VHS. 2013 was the year that BGA opened an online store, though the first order came in on New Year’s Eve, 2012.
Today, the company has 10 locations throughout Norway and Sweden. BGA has shifted focus to a strong online presence and has entered several new markets in a short period of time. BGA is active in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria.
There are several important considerations when expanding within a market, or to a new market, in a successful way, and when it comes to translating services there are two aspects that stand out as being the most important: the language must be correct, and it must be adapted to the situation and the reader.
“We have used other companies previously and were not completely satisfied with the results. On one occasion, a translator used the word ‘human’ to translate the Swedish for ‘private individual’, which didn’t fit at all in context”, says Björn Andersson, CEO of BGA.
Quality has always been an important focus for BGA, and literal, word-for-word translations do not fit the bill. Björn explains:
“Localised text is very important, and we see that all aspects of translation contribute to a positive SEO-focused customer experience. We want to get even closer to our customers and I think that it is of utmost importance that we can have the most local-feeling translations presented to our customers, no matter their location.”
These days, it is normal to have content creation resources employed in-house. BGA works this way as well. Short, quick texts that are seen briefly are taken care of by BGA employees, while texts that are longer and will be visible for extended periods of time are translated by Contentor. In this way, one can get the best of both worlds and achieve the greatest success.
