We work with words every single day. Linguists, writers, developers – all with one thing in common: a genuine love of language. So when International Mother Language Day comes around, it is fair to say we do not need much convincing.
Nelson Mandela once said: "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart."
That is exactly the magic we witness every day.
Because it is not about grammar or syntax. It is about identity. Heritage. The feeling of home.
Whether it is Arabic, English, Meänkieli, or German – every mother tongue carries a unique history and a rhythm that no other language can replicate.
